We envision Gowanus Arcades – a signature, multi-use public space consisting of four core zones that reflect the unique heritage of Gowanus and the Site: Arts Performance; Food & Beverage; Green & Recreation; Vendor & Exhibition.

Echoing Gowanus's vibrant history as a home for recording and visual arts production, this zone will feature ticketed and free performances of a range of theater, music, dance, and other performing arts. Programming will be sensitive to the surrounding residential and commercial neighborhood and adjacent properties.

From metalworks to watercolors to furniture to pottery, Gowanus is where things get made – Gowanus Arcades will be where they get seen. This zone will imbue the Gowanus tradition with the legacy of MTA Arts & Design by hosting exhibitions, seasonal pop-up markets, and the like, taking advantage of the unique frontage along 3rd Avenue.
